USGS Inorganic Blind Sample Project (IBSP)

QADATA Summaries

The Branch of Quality Systems (BQS) operates an Inorganic Blind Sample Project (IBSP). One of the goals of the project is to document bias and variability for the National Water Quality Laboratory (NWQL) through the use of blind quality assurance samples. The quality assurance results are stored in the QADATA data base. The QADATA Summary is the Inorganic Blind Sample Project's cursory review of those data. Summaries usually include a six-month time period. From these summaries, districts can be informed of the lab's performance on quality-assurance samples which parallel the districts' own environmental samples. Districts can improve the quality of environmental data by requesting reruns.
